Convention Focuses on the Next Frontier in Banking
This week the National Association of Industrial Bankers and the Utah Association of Financial Services announced the speaker lineup and schedule for their upcoming annual convention. This year, the convention will focus on new developments in FinTech, financial innovation, evolving demographics, and management.
“Our convention planning committee and members of our associations have expressed interest in new developments in financial technology, changing demographics, and updates on the political landscape,” said Frank Pignanelli, Executive Director of NAIB and UAFS. “This convention explores new banking services and the evolving marketplace.”
Confirmed speakers for the convention include:
Steve Smith, co-founder of Finicity Corporation and Mastercard Fellow for Global Open Banking, will participate in a fireside chat about financial inclusion and education.
Owen Jennings, Chief Operating Officer for Cash App & Afterpay, will discuss how their company serves the underbanked and non-banked with banking-type products.
Richard Mumford and Tara Wensel with Deloitte will present on banking-as-a-service to enable financial and non-financial institutions to work together to launch financial products to consumers.
Natalie Gochnour, associate dean in the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, and director of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, will discuss demographic changes in the region.
Utah Congressman John Curtis and prominent lobbyist Mark Johnson will each present their outlooks on the federal political landscape.
Doyle Bartlett, co-founder of Eris Group, will lead a panel discussion of association members’ government relations teams regarding regulatory and legislative developments.
Utah Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner will give an overview of banking and financial services in Utah and the Intermountain West.
Former Toyota Financial Services President and NAIB Chair Ray Specht will offer insights to enhance corporate management and leadership.
A panel of FinTech experts will lead an open banking session discussion on securely sharing financial data for innovative financial products.
“The presentations by nationally known FinTech Innovators and the panel discussion led by those experts regarding open banking will interest many attendees,” added Pignanelli. “We are proud of the work our members and financial technology partners are performing to meet the next generation of banking customers with products and services.”
